UNDSCVRD: MULTILORD IS SOLID4LIFE

E:
Alright Multi, let’s talk.

We go way back Multi, so I was privy to witness the birth of the gang. This is way before Multilord became one of the hottest names in the Dubai rap scene, before Kirko had radio hits, before SOLID4LIFE. The fans don’t know what I know and I don’t know everything. So first just tell us who came up with the name Sound Gang? I fucking love it and who and who make up the Gang?

Multilord:

Haha yeah I came up with the name, but I remember the day I did, I was with @evilprogrammer , I mentioned the named, and felt the dopeness and I asked and he approved of it, and that was it… the name SoundGang came to life.

Currently a lot of people make up SoundGang but to mention the front soldiers I’d say Kirko Drilz, Multilord, SupaBrainBeatz, PabloAttorney, Evil & Marcus.

E:
The SOLID4LIFE the Gang’s debut album turned one about a month ago, that was soundgang’s first effort on that scale, how’s the journey been since then?

Multilord:
The journey has been fantastic, our DMs been going dumb with positive reviews… for a debut album it’s really overwhelming and inspirational, we just getting started. The feeling is truly blissful and exciting. This was a dream, and on 6th of November ’21 that dream was actualized.

E:
That’s great my Gee.

SOLID4LIFE/S4L features performances by you and Kirko Drilz on all 11 tracks but you also have appearances from Nigerian rappers Hitman Barz and Jaga on the Sound Gang anthem. Are there any other Nigerians you’ve considered collaborating with?

Multilord:
They should come to us, however we got our eyes set on Ladipoe, Burna, Rema, Buju & AryaStar

E:
What are your thoughts on the drill scene ?

I think the drill scene has been on a rise and even on a greater rise in recent years. For me it’s a relatable genre of music that I enjoy and create so well. I think the drill scene like every other musical scene will experience forces that will adulterate it, but thank God the scene has artists like myself, K-trap, Headie-one, Fivio etc to uphold its cultural values 😀

E: What’s the inspiration behind your new song ‘Drillaz’?

Multilord:
I’d say a bit of my lifestyle and a #LinkUpTV freestyle by Aubrey Graham

E: What are the challenges you face in regards putting out a full length project?

Multilord: The challenges vary, but mainly for growing artists I’d say ‘promotion’. The music industry used to be about pure talent, hard work and supporting those who really possesses these qualities. Lately it don’t matter what you do, if you don’t pay the promoters like the A-list artists do, chances are they won’t give your sound a listen. This is a challenge.

E: What’s your take on stream farms? Are they essential to the promotional process or are they unethical?

Multilord: I believe it is real and going on in the music industry but organic growth or streams will always be the best. I think its whole idea makes the hard workers and talented very insignificant in the game.

E: What are some of your favorite moments so far as a rapper?

Multilord: uhmm quite a few but I’d say performing my sound in an Arabic community and seeing people vibe to it is quite a moment. Also getting calls from family/friends telling me about my songs that they love, that will forever be a moment because when I started it’s safe to say they didn’t want it, but today they tell me my sound brings them healing.
