ANENDLESSOCEAN’S ‘ZA’ SPEAKS TO A GENERATION CRAVING FEARLESS FAITH
AnEndlessOcean is a voice forged in faith and fight. Born Ayobami Alli Hakeem, AnEndlessOcean (AEO) grew up straddling two worlds—raised by a Muslim father and a Christian mother, he walked both paths before finding his home in Christianity. Music wasn’t his first language, but the church choir became his classroom. “I started playing bass,” he laughs, “until my teacher told me, ‘You should try writing songs.’ That one sentence changed everything.” His journey—from a quiet musician in the background to a storyteller blending faith and rebellion—now fuels his art, connecting with a generation hungry for raw, relatable spirituality.
His latest single, “Za”, isn’t just a song—it’s a battle hymn wrapped in surrender. Blending contemporary Nigerian gospel with warrior anthems, AEO crafts a soundscape where faith is both armour and weapon. Lines like “Sling stones / Kill giants” pull from biblical tales, framing life’s struggles as divine assignments (“That’s the climate / It’s the science of your rulership”). But this isn’t passive worship. The chorus—a relentless chant of “Yah yah yah yah nagaza” —turns devotion into a rallying cry, shaking heaven like a storm. “I wanted to capture the noise of fighting and falling and still trusting,” AEO explains. “It’s about being human but refusing to back down.”
What makes “Za” unforgettable is its tension. AEO’s voice cracks, roars, and soars, clashing with lush harmonies to mirror the push-and-pull of doubt and certainty. He weaves Yoruba proverbs (“O da mi loju pe o waye so o le ma fi mi s’aya” ) with declarations of wholeness—body, spirit, and soul—rooting his message in cultural truth. By the final line—“There’s no counterfeit to you…”
The track is a manifesto for anyone wrestling with questions, scars, or unshakable hope. AnEndlessOcean isn’t just singing about God. He’s shouting a reminder: faith is alive, relentless, and worth fighting for.
“Za” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
