6th Quan; Essang Etim formerly known as 9th Quan is a 21 year old Nigerian musical artiste and producer who is also fresh graduate of Archaeology from the University of Ibadan, Oyo state. Although an indigene of Akwa Ibom state, he was born on the 28th of April, 2000 in the southwestern part of Nigeria, Osun state.
6th Quan started his musical journey in 2019 when he dropped his debut EP titled “Threnody” as 9th Quan, dedicated to his late sister. The beautiful body of work received positive reviews and air play from radio stations across the country as well as thousands of streams on his Soundcloud.
At the start of 2021 Quan took a short break from the music scene to work on himself and create a new identity for his music and on the 7th of August, he re-emerged as 6th Quan, followed shortly by the release of his EP, REBIRTH. The EP dropped on the 18th of February, 2022.
“Pandora surrounds me dealing with emotions inspired by a girl addicted to the drugs… that was part of the inspiration for the lyrical content of Pandora” says Quan.
Known for his idiosyncratic style of music, the self-taught music producer whose aesthetic is centered on the colour Orange is also an abstract visual artist who infuses that very abstract nature of his art into the music he makes.
