MODOLA ILLUMINATES AFROPOP WITH DEBUT EP “NEW LIGHT”
Modola (born Temidola Awosika) is an artist and a cultural bridge. Raised in Milan and fluent in Italian, Spanish, and French, this Pan-African songstress is making music with a sound as diverse as her upbringing. A scholar with multiple degrees and a creative with boundless vision, Modola merges intellect with artistry, proving excellence knows no borders.
Now, Modola makes her debut EP, New Light, a radiant introduction to her Afropop flair and candid storytelling. Each track shines a different light on her journey and grind.
“New Light” is a genre-blurring odyssey that pulses with the heartbeat of Lagos and the cosmopolitan flair of Europe. The EP opens with “Masun” (“Don’t sleep”) speaks to the hustle mindset of Nigerian youth. “No Stress” is a rebellion anthem with tongue-in-cheek ease. “Oro Owo” flexes her streetwise ambition, while “Biling” elevates her into alté swagger. Finishing strong, “Talk” and “Kontrolla” position Modola as a playful and unpredictable new voice.
“This EP is my love letter to every young woman who refuses to be boxed in,” says Modola. “Whether it’s the grind of ‘Masun’ or the freedom of ‘No Stress’, I want my music to remind you—your light doesn’t need permission to shine.”
“New Light” is available now on all streaming platforms.
