It’s been two years since kemuel’s debut single, “Champagne Girl” and his first EP “Escape”.
After a successful year in 2023 with his guest feature on DJ Spinall’s “Bunda” alongside the legend Olamide. Kemuel has kept himself occupied with releases and occasional features. However, he returns in full force with the release of his sophomore EP “CLOUDS”.
The project is a 7-track project that carries its emotional weight and storytelling. A journey through love, longing, resilience and self-discovery.
CLOUDS EP captures the essence of wanting intimacy during a late-night drive—the desire for meaningful connections rather than fleeting moments, offering solace to those experiencing heartbreak, resonating with anyone who has felt love’s bittersweet sting. He reminds himself to stay on track and dedicated to his journey amidst distractions.
His writings are complemented by Afropop productions led by Wondah, who conveys the mood of the project.
Kemuel draws inspiration from childhood memories, he shares “I named the EP “Clouds” cos every song carries a unique emotion, and growing up as a kid watching cartoons clouds hover above a character’s head when he’s gloomy and the clouds clear up when he’s happy, so this project is like a representation of that. Another reason would be because of how psychedelic the songs sound.”
The EP, a labour of love took approximately one year and a half to put together, reflecting not just his journey but the shared experiences of the listeners.
Speaking on what the listeners, he says “I want people to listen to this project and feel less alone, I want people to think of this project when there happy, searching for motivation, feel like partying, feeling down, this EP should be the safe place of every listener that took the risk to hit play.”
The EP features previously released singles ”Alone” and “Polo” have accumulated over 3 million streams across all platforms.
Kemeul hails from the vibrant southern state of Rivers. Kemeul’s roots run deep in Afropop, R&B, and pop music. Kemuel embodies excellence.
His musical journey began at age 13 when he joined the church choir. There, he honed his skills on piano, bass guitar, and drums, contributing to the choir’s harmonious sound. His passion for art led him to pursue a degree in Fine Art and Design from the University of Port Harcourt.
With each release, Kemuel inches closer to global recognition and dominance, captivating audiences one song at a time.
