Afro-Pop’s newest sensation, KOHDEE, releases his brand new single ‘Mr Fantastic’. This feel good song is the perfect anthem to wrap up Summer! Laced with self-affirmation, introspection and a little bragging, ‘Mr Fantastic’ is fun and flirty.
‘Mr Fantastic’ showcases the singer, songwriter and producer’s versatility. This catchy number plays with cadence, harmonies and range. Produced by Spax (Tekno/Tems/Adekunle Gold/Oxlade/Show Dem Camp/Ladipoe) and TMXO (Burna Boy/Masego/Tiwa Savage/Adekunle Gold/ BNXN), the 26 year old Nigerian newcomer delivers a mid-tempo vibe, layered on a steady bass line, sprinkled with punchy synth and rooted in rocking percussion. Co-written by KOHDEE and BoyBreed, and mixed by T.U.C (WizKid/Ice Prince/Sarkodie/Skales), ‘Mr Fantastic’ is not just a conversation with KOHDEE and his female fans. It’s also a declaration of gratitude and an embracing of progress.
According to KOHDEE, the new single captures his current mood: “I feel like the title describes the song very well because at that moment of creating the song, I was feeling fantastic and grateful. I was finally granted the opportunity to properly share my music with the world. I was finally getting a real shot and adequate support needed to succeed in this industry. It was around the time I had just signed with Troniq Music that I recorded this song so all the excitement and joy I was feeling, I put into that song. I know the world will be able to pick up on that fantastic energy. The creative process for ‘Mr Fantastic’ was really smooth. I heard the beat alongside many other beats, it just stood out to me so I started mumbling melodies. I put words to those melodies and it turned out fantastic”.
‘Mr Fantastic’ is KOHDEE’s first single to be released under Troniq Music (home to artists like Oxlade). It serves as teaser of his forthcoming EP expected later this year. Anticipating the next phase of his career, the singer said: “As an independent artist, I had the creative freedom to make music that I loved and now with Troniq Music I have both that and the right support to bring my visions and creativity to life”.

Ogechukwu ‘KOHDEE’ Otu is a talented Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer known for his unique blend of Afro-Pop and Afrobeats. KOHDEE personifies troubles to triumph. Born on 31 March, the 26 year old is the fifth child and first boy in a family of seven. He schooled in Abuja, FCT before going on to study Information Technology in Cyprus. KOHDEE’s love for music began at a young age, having been raised by a mother who was a Gospel artist. He further developed his musical passion in secondary school, where he met a friend who was a rapper and producer. This inspired him to start writing his own songs and to learn how to produce, mix, master and record himself.
Having dropped out of his Master’s degree to pursue music, his journey to stardom took an unexpected twist when a near-death car crash left him hospitalized for months. This sparked an elevated, more powerful drive to achieve his musical dreams. Despite this setback, he officially launched his career in 2017 and swiftly rose as a formidable presence in the industry. In 2020, he unleashed the 7-track EP ‘The Link’, boasting a cameo appearance by 1da Banton. Notably, his 2021 hit ‘Mexebu’ saw a collaboration with the acclaimed hi-life band, The Cavemen.
