A singer-songwriter with a sensitive voice, OPA was awarded the prestigious title of Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the BENIN TOP 10 Awards in 2024, following the release of his debut EP “GOSLOW” — a project that marked his growing impact on the national music scene.
His brand new project Afrocharm is a 6-track EP of seduction, vulnerability, and emotional complexity. Blending Afrobeats, Afroswing, and R&B, OPA taps into the intricacies of love and lust, expressed through rich bilingual lyricism and sonic elegance. On “DLM (Don’t Leave Me)”, he fuses French and West African dialects to mourn a love slipping through his fingers, turning raw emotion into a haunting plea. “Reste” is a tug-of-war between two lovers, OPA and Diane dddd, navigating silence, confrontation, and the slow unravelling of what once was.
“This project is about emotional truth,” says OPA. “I wanted to capture how love feels in real time, the tension, the beauty, and the chaos, without losing the rhythm that keeps us dancing through it all.”
On “Pause”, he dances the line between desire and distance with a moody flow, while tracks like “Pay My Call”, “Minka”, and “Najina” round out the EP with grooves that shift from sensual to celebratory. The production remains lush but restrained, allowing OPA’s voice, intimate, textured, and carrying the heart of every track.
