KOTRELL FINDS HEALING IN LOVE WITH NEW SINGLE, “SAFE”
KOTRELL’s music has always been about feeling deeply, and “Safe” is no exception. Born Atonopriya Cotterell, the Afro pop-soul artist and producer brings a rare mix of vulnerability and control to every song. With roots in soul, pop, and alternative music, KOTRELL started writing at nine, recorded his first track at eleven, and has been sculpting sound ever since.
After turning heads with 2023’s Love Is… and the emotionally resonant Forever EP, he opens 2025 with “Safe,” a love song soaked in honesty and healing. With lyrics like “There’s no judgment for my scars” and “You make it easy to love… to trust… to give all of myself again”, Safe paints love not as escape, but as sanctuary. It’s a song about being truly seen and still chosen.
“This song is personal. It’s about being in a space where your whole self is welcome, no edits, no armour,” says KOTRELL. “I think everyone deserves that.”
Backed by the melodic layering of 121 Selah, the production floats but never drifts. It’s atmospheric and grounded, echoing the gentle strength of the message. With this release, KOTRELL proves again that his gift isn’t just in melody, it’s in meaning.
