INTERBIEW WITH MULTILORD

SPEAKING WITH MULTILORD

Multilord doesn’t ask for attention—he commands it. From his unmistakable swagger to his unique sound, the Nigerian-born, Dubai-based artist is carving his own lane, refusing to be boxed in by borders, labels or expectations. His music isn’t just a soundtrack; it’s an experience—bold, layered, and unapologetically his.

“I’d call my sound *Egusi-pepper soup with assorted meat*,” he says. A fitting description for an artist whose work is rich with spice and complexity, blending the deep, soulful essence of Nigerian culture with the sleek, cosmopolitan flair of Dubai. His sound is a reflection of someone constantly in motion, evolving, growing, and pushing boundaries.

For Multilord, music isn’t just about the art. It’s about identity, legacy, and defying the odds. It’s about showing the world that greatness can come from anywhere. Born in Lagos and now building a multiverse with Sound Gang in Dubai, he embodies what it means to be a global artist with roots that run deep.

In this conversation with Replay, Multilord speaks on his evolution, the weight of balancing artistry and entrepreneurship, and what’s next for a star who’s always moving toward the future—on his own terms

1. You’ve been making music for a while now. If your sound today met your sound from your first track, what do you think they’d say to each other?

– Man you’ve grown but get you a great producer!

2. Your debut project introduced us to Multilord. If your next project had a personality, how would you describe it—more mature, more experimental, or more ‘just vibes’?

– I’d say a mix of experimental and vibes!

3. You’re based in Dubai but carry strong Nigerian roots. If your music was a meal, would it be more of a spicy jollof rice or a fancy Emirati platter? And why?

 – Egusi-pepper soup with assorted meat. This dish is a combo of two iconic Nigerian soups. It symbolizes how my music cuts from multi-dimension to bring you a great, unique feeling when consumed.

4. If you could sum up your journey in the music industry so far in one lyric or bar from your songs, what would it be?

– I travel, through stars, easy ticket, cuz i’m one of ‘em!’

5. Who’s one artist you’ve been secretly wanting to DM you about a collab, and what would your reply look like?

– This is a tricky one, cool down tiger, you can’t get both, I’ll tell you who the artist is but I won’t tell what my reply would look like.

So here we go: The artist… uhmm The girl that did ‘hold my waist’ like as e dey go’ – Fave.

6. Sound Gang is both a label and a movement. If Sound Gang threw a party, what three songs would define the vibe of the night?

– First song definitely ‘SG Anthem’ , 2nd would be our smash hit ‘bad2worse, and 3rd would another of our smash hit ‘OSL’ by Kirko Drilz.

7. As an executive, do you ever have to tell yourself ‘Multilord, the artist’ to calm down, or vice versa? How do you balance wearing both hats?

– Sure its not easy, but when you realise you’re an investment, and you’re the same person responsible for the management of that investment, the hat kinda finds a balance subconsciously..

8. If Sound Gang were an Avengers-like team of artists, what role would you play, and who would be your superhero partner in crime? — Hahah.. Aaah definitely iron man, for a crime partner i think Dr Strange.

9. What’s the toughest decision you’ve had to make as an executive at Sound Gang, and how did it shape the collective’s future?

– Execs face a number of tough decisions daily, for me, one of that would be deciding to indulge in productions that are different from my primary style. It seemed tough but it was necessary for growth.

This decision led to a successful release of musical masterpieces that blends a mix of hiphop & afrobeat. i.e Solid4Life – the album.

13.You’ve got your first big headlining show. What’s one thing the crowd must do to make the night unforgettable for you?

14.Navigating the music industry from Dubai sounds like a unique challenge. What’s one thing you’ve learned that you think every up-and-coming artist should know?

– No one cares where you are, they care about your output & impact.

15.In a world where virality is king, how do you ensure your music stays true to you while also capturing global attention?

–By never forgetting the ‘why’ and having

16.What’s one trend in music you secretly can’t wait to fade out, and why?

– Maybe shaku shaku… The why is in the name and dance mechanism.
