Afro Pop-Soul artist Kotrell, born Atonopriya Cotterell in Rivers State, Nigeria, releases his highly anticipated second studio EP, Forever.
Kotrell has won hearts since his debut project, Love is…. His latest EP builds on his exploration of love, shifting from fleeting moments to an unbreakable kind of love—one that holds strong through life’s highs and lows.
His journey in music began with early experimentation; he composed his first song at nine, recorded at eleven, and rose through the ranks to headline his sold-out solo show, Kotrell Live in Concert in 2018 while studying at Bowen University. Graduating with honours, All of which have shaped him into a distinct voice.
The Forever EP is a fusion of Afro-Soul, Pop, and R&B, creating a unique space that allows him to shine. Collaborating with Kenyan singer Bridget Blue and Nigerian artist Dotti The Deity, the EP extends his influence and international presence.
Opening with “Take Care,” Kotrell sets a warm, nurturing tone as he desires to protect and cherish his lover. “Now and Always” and “Hold You Down,” convey promises of being by his lover’s side through every season.
Midway through the EP, Kotrell conveys the astonishment of love’s beauty in “Unbelievable” and preserves the moments of intimacy, saying, “Forever, baby.” The closing track, “Home,” acknowledges the comfort and belonging his lover provides.
Forever is a love letter and soundtrack for those who appreciate romance, placing Kotrell as an evolving artist whose expressive voice is gaining recognition far beyond Nigeria.
