The month of September belongs to Töme, literally. The Nigerian-Canadian artist will mark a new age on the 17th of September and in celebration, she’s committing to sharing a new song every Tuesday, throughout the month.
Yesterday, Tuesday, 6th of September, she unveiled “Uptight”, the first single to kick-start the #TomeTuesday project. Commenting on the new single, she says:
“When your partner decides to get you angry and question your love for them and if they’re worth keeping around; it can get you “Uptight”. That was really the meaning of this song; that feeling you get in the moment of an argument with your love partner.”
Töme’s foray into music started back in 2015 with the release of her self-recorded acoustic EP dubbed One with Self. Since then, she’s shared a stage with Wizkid, Burna Boy, toured with Mr Eazi, released three full length projects and won a JUNOS award with her Sean Kingston featured single titled “I Pray”.
Her collection of releases for this month of September include some of her favourite songs that didn’t make her previous projects. “Songs I made as far back as 2019 will finally receive their flowers. Every song will be different from the other just to display how much greatness I have in my vault”, says Töme.
Each song will also be accompanied by a visual piece throughout the month.
